Appleby's A Winner

Champion Cheshire Cheese at the Cheshire Show

Appleby’s Cheshire achieved the ultimate accolade for Cheshire cheese at the Cheshire Show. Appleby’s Cheshire won the Cheshire Agricultural Society’s Champion Cheshire Cheese trophy at the Show. The Cheshire cheese made by the Appleby’s is the original Cheshire cheese. It is still made by hand in the traditional way. The cheese is made using unpasteurised milk from the Appleby’s own cows. The process is carried out as it always has been. Once made, the cheese are bound in calico and stored in on-farm maturing rooms before being distributed around the UK and also exported to countries such as America. The winning cheese was three months old having been made on March 27th at Hawkstone Abbey Farm. Paul Appleby, third generation farmer and cheesemaker commented; “We are delighted to have won this award and we hope that customers will continue to enjoy eating the cheese that we have now made for three generations”.
